A seat harness (Ether, Fuse) sits low and does not ride up — comfortable for beginners and long sessions. A waist harness (Ether waist, Synth RS, Method RS) gives more freedom of movement and better force transfer once you start jumping.
A hard shell has a rigid ergonomic outer shell — at AK that is the carbon support in the Method RS Carbon and Method RS Gold FlaxFusion. The kite's pull spreads over a larger area, so the harness does not twist or ride up. Softer models are more adaptable; a hard shell is more stable under strong pull.
An impact vest cushions landings and protects your ribs — it is what jumpers wear. A buoyancy vest is about flotation and safety in deep water. They are two different things; if jumping is your goal, take the impact vest.
Travel Coffin 145 and 160 are padded wheeled bags for a full setup — the number is the length in centimetres, so pick it by your longest board. For everything else there is the Duffel Bag.
