Essential: a pump, a safety leash and a helmet, plus a wetsuit in cold water. Strongly recommended: an impact vest, a spare valve and a basic repair kit.

For kites up to 12 m² a standard single-chamber pump is enough; for bigger kites and faster inflation pick a wider, double-action model. More important than the brand are a pressure gauge and hose length.
